Getting Started

After successfully setting up rent payments, you'll gain access to the Payments Dashboard. This is a centralized hub that displays all your information in relation to the charges you send to your tenants, the payments you receive back from your tenants, and the overall status of your money moved via TurboTenant.

Curious where you can find everything you need within just a few clicks? Here's a full breakdown.

Overview Tab

The Overview tab is a reporting feature that displays general rent payment information. You can view the different types of sent charges and deposits made by filtering between months or years.

Information on the Overview tab allows you to track your money for the month and examine your charges from a bird's-eye view. For example, by clicking on the Past Due box, you'll be taken to the Charges tab that displays all of your past-due charges for the time period you select.

This quick filtering system allows you to quickly take action, if needed, or better understand the status of your rent payments. Any of the boxes on the Overview tab are clickable and will lead you where you want to go.

Glossary: Your Payments Dashboard

What does each box within the Payments Dashboard do? Here's an overview of what you can expect when you click on each individual colored box.

  • Charges (Dark-Blue Box): The dashboard allows you to filter by month or year to view the charges that have been sent to your tenants and are either due or paid. This will give you the total amount of charges for your account.

  • Deposited (Navy-Blue Box): The complete sum of the charges that have been successfully paid and securely deposited into your bank account.

  • In Transit (Gray Box): You'll find payments that haven't quite made it to your bank account yet under here, as this tab displays payments currently in the process of being transferred to your bank account.

  • Paid (Green Box): In this section, you can view all the charges that have been covered by your tenants. This indicates that either the payment was successfully deducted from the tenant's account or the payment was recorded offline using services like Zelle, Venmo, Cashier's Check, etc.

  • Past Due (Red Box): If your tenant is late (or past their due date) on rent or any other charges, those charges will show up here.

  • Unpaid (Light-Blue Box): Haven't received a payment for a monthly or or-time charge yet? Here's where you can find any charges that have not been paid yet. Keep in mind that TurboTenant sends charges to tenants 15 days before their due date; therefore, a charge could technically be unpaid without being late yet.

Properties, Leases, and Tenants are also sectioned at the bottom of the dashboard.

Under Properties, you'll find the collective amount of charges owed for each of your rental units. Leases highlight the total amount of charges owed per lease in your TurboTenant account. And finally, Tenants shows you exactly who owes how much for the month (or for the year).

Charges Tab

You can view the sent charges that your tenants have received through the platform — recurring and one-time. This tab provides a historical record for you, as a landlord, that is easily filterable and scannable.

You have the option to filter by your property, lease, category of the charge (Security Deposit, Rent, Utilities, etc), status of the charge, and time period. With our month-by-month breakdown, you can focus on any given time period and view all sent charges for that month in the upper right-hand corner of the table. When you click on a charge, a drop-down menu appears that contains more information on the payee, date of payment, status of payment, and rent payment ID.

Lastly, the Export feature in the top right corner of the page exports all sent charges and their associated payments into a spreadsheet that can be opened with Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel. For bookkeeping and tax purposes, this feature allows you to download a list of all the charges related to your business, filtered by the chosen criteria. You can customize your exported data by applying filters to structure your data the way you want it.

Deposits Tab

The Deposits tab is where you can find all the payments made by your tenants. It shows you the money that is currently on its way to your bank account(s) and also gives you a record of the rent payments that have already been transferred to your bank account. You can easily filter and scan through this historical record.

You can filter by property, lease, tenant, and time. With a month-by-month breakdown of your deposits, you can check on any time period and view the month's total deposits in the upper right-hand corner of the table. When you click on a deposit, a drop-down menu appears that contains more information on the paid charge.

Lastly, the Export feature in the top right corner of the page exports all deposits —excluding the ones in transit— into a spreadsheet that can be opened with Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel. For bookkeeping and tax purposes, download a list of all the deposits related to your business, filtered by the chosen criteria. The data exported is affected by any applied filters you select, allowing for full customization.
