How Do I Edit & Delete Rent Payment Charges?

Need to modify or remove a charge or rent payment within your TurboTenant account?

If you find that you need to make an adjustment to a charge for one of your tenants or get rid of it completely, we make the process easy to do within your TurboTenant account.


Getting Started

Step 1: Log in to your account and click on the "Leases" tab.

Step 2: Click "View Payments" under the lease for which you want to edit or delete a charge. If you do not see "View Payments", you can select the lease name to access the payments tab (next to Summary in the lease profile).

To Edit a Monthly Charge

Click the edit (or pencil) icon next to the upcoming charge you want to edit.

Make any necessary changes, such as amount information or adding automatic late fees. When you're finished, don't forget to save your changes! Your monthly charge should now reflect your edits.


To Delete a Monthly Charge

Click the edit (or pencil) icon next to the charge you want to delete.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Delete Charge."

Your charge should now be removed from the "Monthly Charges" section. Deleting a monthly charge only affects future charges. We recommend that you message your tenants to let them know about the charge removal.

πŸ’‘ TurboTip: Monthly charges are sent to tenants 15 days before the due date, so if you delete a monthly charge after it has already been sent, you will need to delete the charge that was posted for the upcoming month as well.


To Edit a Sent Charge, that has not been paid.

Click the grey arrow next to the charge you want to edit, then click the "Edit" button.

Make your changes to the sent charge β€” like updating the charge amount or changing the due date β€” then click "Save Changes."

πŸ’‘ TurboTip: Remember that when you modify a sent charge, this change ONLY affects the selected charge and no future charges.

πŸ’‘ TurboTip: You cannot edit a charge once it has been paid.


To Delete a Sent Charge

Click the grey arrow next to the charge amount for which you want to delete, and then click the "Delete" button.

Click "Delete Charge" in the delete module.

The charge you removed won't be able to be seen by your tenants, effective the day you delete it.

πŸ’‘ TurboTip: You can now also edit and delete sent charges from your "Payments" tab in your left-hand column navigation.


To Edit a Charge with a Partial Payment

Click the grey arrow next to the charge with the partial payment, and then click the "Edit" button.

You can edit the charge to the amount you would like to change it to (this cannot be less than the partial charge amount paid), change the due date, or change the charge description. Select "Save" at the bottom to save the changes.

πŸ’‘ TurboTip: Charges with a partial payment made through TurboTenant can only be edited and not deleted.
