Changing a Renter from a Tenant to a Co-Signer (or vice-versa) is simple.

Both the Landlord and the Renter can adjust this, but in this article, we will cover how the landlord can make this change.

πŸ’‘ TurboTip: You can only change the renter status type for a renter who has applied to your rental, not someone who was manually added as a tenant or has not yet applied.

How to Change Renter Status

Step 1: Navigate to your Applicants tab and select "View Applicant" on the renter you would like to update.

Step 2: From the Applicant overview, you will click on the "Application" tab to show the renter's submitted application information.

Step 3: From this page, select "Edit" on the first section of the application and make your change from tenant to co-signer or co-signer to tenant.

Remember to save your changes!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Can I change the renter status of tenant vs co-signer for someone who did not apply through TurboTenant?

A: No, at this time, you cannot change the renter status for someone who did not apply through TurboTenant. You can still mark them as a tenant or co-signer in the lease builder, however!
