TurboTenant allows you to customize your online rental application by adding up to 4 additional questions. You can also turn on/off background questions, if necessary.

You cannot make any changes to the default questions or change the layout of the application. Your settings will affect all applications you receive.


How to Add Custom Questions

Step 1 - Log in to your TurboTenant account and click Account, then Settings.

Step 2 - Click Application in the main navigation at the top of your screen.

Step 3 - Click Add Another Question under the Custom Application Questions section and type in the question you want to ask renters.

Step 4 - Click Save Changes to add the question, or click Add Question to add another one.


How to Turn On/Off Background Questions

We ask background questions on all rental applications (see where they appear by default). However, depending on where your rental is located, you may have local restrictions on asking for that info.

If applicable, you can choose to not ask them. Here's how:

Step 1 - Log in to your TurboTenant account and click Account, then Settings.

Step 2 - Click Application in the main navigation at the top of your screen.

Step 3 - Locate the Background Questions section at the top of the page.

Step 4 - Toggle between Ask and Don't Ask for each of the 3 background questions. You can choose to toggle any, all, or none of these questions, depending on your state's laws. Whatever you select will automatically save.

If you choose to not ask certain background questions, these questions will not appear on any rental applications you send out to prospective renters.


TurboTenant Pro Tips

  • Click Remove to remove a question

  • The custom questions you add will appear on the 4th step of the rental application for all of your TurboTenant listings and will not be mandatory to answer.

  • You can remove or edit your questions at any time.
