Photo Guidelines for Your TurboTenant Listing
TurboTenant is committed to creating a safe, trustworthy, and high-quality experience for both landlords and renters. To help your listing perform its best, we’ve outlined clear guidelines for uploading property photos.
Recommended Number of Photos
We recommend uploading at least 5-7 photos of your rental. Listings with more photos typically attract 38% more leads.
Organizing Your Photos
For the best renter experience, arrange your photos in the same order someone would see the property during an in-person tour.
Example order:
Exterior/front of property
Entryway
Common areas (living room, kitchen)
Bedrooms
Bathrooms
Backyard or additional features
This helps renters understand the flow of the space and increases the likelihood they’ll inquire.
Tips for High-Quality Photos
Clear, bright, well-framed images make a big difference. If you’d like extra guidance, see our blog: “Taking Amazing Property Photos.”
Keep Your Listing Fresh
Regularly updating your listing, by refreshing photos or making small edits, can help improve how often it appears on third-party rental sites.
Photo Size & Format Requirements
TurboTenant supports JPEG, PNG, GIF, and HEIC photo formats. To ensure your photos upload correctly and display clearly on your listing, please follow these size guidelines:
Minimum Size
Photos must be at least 330 × 330 pixels.
Maximum Size
If you’re using a high-resolution camera, make sure the images are no larger than 900 × 900 pixels.
Our listing pages display images at 900 × 900 pixels and 72 DPI, which is ideal for web viewing.
Files must be <10MB
If you’re unable to upload a photo, it’s often due to the file size or format. Adjusting the image usually resolves the issue.
Free Tools to Resize or Convert Photos
You can use any online photo editor to adjust the size or format. Here are a few free options:
For best results, use full-size, high-resolution images in their original size and adopt a 4:3 aspect ratio for better display.
Photo Restrictions
To keep listings safe, accurate, and compliant, TurboTenant automatically rejects photos that contain any of the following:
People or identifiable individuals
Commercial properties
Screenshots
MLS watermarks
Third-party URLs or images pulled from other websites
Discriminatory content or anything that violates the Fair Housing Act
Inappropriate content or anything that violates TurboTenant’s Terms of Use
Placeholder images, including images containing sensitive information (such as SSNs) - these must be replaced with actual property photos
If a photo contains any restricted content, it will not appear on your listing.
