2-step verification is a security feature that helps protect your account by requiring two forms of verification when you sign in:
Something you know – your password
Something you have – a one-time verification code (usually sent to your phone or generated by an authenticator app)
Even if someone were to gain access to your password, 2-step verification helps prevent unauthorized access to your account.
Why enable 2-Step Verification?
Enabling 2-step verification helps:
Protect your account from unauthorized logins
Secure sensitive landlord and tenant information
Reduce the risk of account takeovers or fraud
Give you peace of mind when accessing your account from new devices
We strongly recommend enabling 2-step verification in your account to keep it secure.

Using Google Voice or a VoIP Number?
Google Voice is a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service, meaning it routes calls and texts over the internet rather than through a traditional cellular network. While Google Voice technically supports SMS, TurboTenant's 2-step verification requires a real mobile number — VoIP numbers like Google Voice are not always supported and SMS verification codes may not be delivered.
If you're not receiving your verification code, check whether the phone number on your account is a Google Voice or other VoIP number. If it is, try updating your account with a standard mobile number to ensure code delivery.
💡 TurboTip: Most landlords use Google Voice to protect their personal number when marketing their properties. TurboTenant's Pro plan includes a forwarding number for all leads — giving you the same privacy and protection without needing Google Voice, so you can use your real mobile number in TurboTenant without any issues.
