Close Account Requests

Close Account Request

We understand that sometimes you may decide you no longer want to keep your TurboTenant account open. While there isn’t a self-service option to fully close your account within your settings, we’ve made the process simple with a request form.

When you close your account, it will be deactivated, you will no longer receive TurboTenant emails, and for renters, Auto-Pay will be turned off to prevent further charges.

If you are a tenant with an active lease, the process for closing your account will involve additional steps to ensure all lease-related activities are properly managed.

How to Close Your Account

To request an account closure, please fill out the form below:

Once you’ve submitted the form, one of our dedicated team members will review your request. You’ll receive a confirmation within one business day that your account has been closed. During this process, your account will be deactivated, you will no longer receive TurboTenant emails, and for renters, Auto-Pay will be turned off to prevent further charges.

How Can Renters Close Their TurboTenant Account If It Is Tied to an Active Lease?

If you are a renter looking to close your TurboTenant account but it is currently tied to an active lease, there are specific steps you need to follow. TurboTenant requires that all active leases associated with your account be ended before the account can be closed. Below is a detailed guide to help you through the process.

Overview of Account Closure Policies

TurboTenant cannot close a renter's account if it is associated with an active lease in the landlord's account. This policy ensures that all lease-related activities are properly managed and documented before account closure. TurboTenant also cannot end leases on behalf of tenants, as this action must be initiated by the landlord.

Steps for Renters to Close Their Account

  • Request Lease Termination from Your Landlord: Contact your landlord or property manager and ask them to end the lease in their TurboTenant account. This step is essential, as TurboTenant does not have the authority to terminate leases on behalf of tenants. Note that ending the lease in TurboTenant does not affect any agreements or obligations you may have outside of the platform.

  • Confirm Lease Termination: Once your landlord has ended the lease, verify with them that the lease is no longer active in TurboTenant.

  • Notify TurboTenant Support: After confirming that the lease has been terminated, contact TurboTenant support to inform them of the change. You can then request the closure of your account.

Role of Landlords in the Process

Landlords play a crucial role in this process, as they are the only ones who can end a lease in TurboTenant. If you are a landlord, ensure that you:

  • Log in to your TurboTenant account.

  • Navigate to the lease in question and follow the steps to terminate it.

  • Communicate with your tenant to confirm the lease has been ended.

Limitations of TurboTenant's Capabilities

TurboTenant cannot end leases on behalf of tenants. This action must be initiated by the landlord. TurboTenant's role is limited to managing the platform's lease records and account settings. Any agreements or obligations outside of TurboTenant remain unaffected by actions taken within the platform.

Account Deletion vs Closing

Closing your account is not the same as permanently deleting your account or personal information. If you’d like to request a full deletion of your account and associated data, you’ll need to follow our Delete Information Request process instead.

Reopening or Recreating an Account

If you decide to use TurboTenant again in the future, you have the following options:

  • Request to have your closed account reopened.

  • Alternatively, you can create a new account to manage properties or rentals.
