When paying rent charges, you may need to change the bank account or card you are paying from.

For instance, you may wish to switch from a debit or credit card to a bank account or update to a new debit card.

You can now add multiple payment methods to your account to pay rent with! To add a new or updated payment method, follow the steps below.

Having multiple methods allows for added flexibility and ensures you have a backup in case your primary method is unavailable.

Update or Add a New Payment Method

Step 1: From your dashboard, go to Settings.

Step 2: At the top of the page, select "Payment Methods."

Step 3: Select "New Payment Method"

You can select if you would like to add a new card or bank account:

If your bank is not listed in the Bank Login, you will want to select to add your bank information manually. You can view the article on Manually Adding and Verifying your Bank Account for more guidance there as well.

This option is particularly useful if you're unable to verify your bank automatically or prefer manual setup for security reasons.

💡 TurboTip: All card payments (credit and debit) will incur a 3.49% fee. Depending on your landlord's subscription, you may incur a $2.00 ACH fee for bank account payments. These fees are non-refundable.

To avoid card fees, consider using a bank account for payments, which may also help in managing recurring transactions efficiently.

Once you have successfully added your new payment method, you will see this screen, and you will be ready to make payments.

Payment Methods for Rent Reporting

Why Can’t I Use My Bank Account for Rent Reporting?

TurboTenant requires rent payments to be made via a card to report them to credit bureaus. While you can use a bank account for regular rent payments, enhancing your credit score through rent reporting necessitates a card payment method. You can set up autopay using either method for regular payments.

Remove a Payment Method

Once you add a new payment method, you can keep the previous one you had to use in the future, or you can delete it from your account.

Step 1: Go to your Settings

Step 2: At the top of the page, select "Payment Methods."

Step 3: Select the trash can icon next to the payment method you would like to remove and select "Delete."
