About Offline Payments

Do you have a tenant who made a rent payment outside of the TurboTenant platform? You can easily record offline payments so you can keep track of all your charges in one place. During this 5-step process, you can record payments such as cash, check, or electronic payment.

On the Web

Recording an Offline Payment from the Leases tab

Step 1 - Log in to your TurboTenant account and click on the Leases tab

Step 2 - Click View Payments under the relevant lease

If the lease is upcoming or ending soon you click on the lease, then click into the payments section from there.

Step 3 - Click the grey arrow next to the charge and click Record Payment

Step 4 - Select which tenant on the lease made the payment and which charge(s) they paid, as well as how and when they made the payment. If your renter only made a partial payment, you can specify the amount that the renter paid.

💡TurboTip: Some states require receipts be sent for payments. When recording an offline payment, you can automatically send the tenant a receipt for their payment.

Step 5 - Click Record Payment to finalize the payment.

After completing this final step, you've officially recorded an offline payment for your tenant. At the bottom of the payment offline payment page, you can also select whether you'd like to send your renter a receipt.

💡 TurboTips:

  • The charge will display as paid both in your account and your tenant’s. If you send the tenant a receipt, they will receive an emailed receipt and also find a history of their receipts within their portal in Settings > Rent Payments.

  • Any notes you enter for the payment will appear within the payment card in the renter's account.

  • If you haven't added the charge to your account, you cannot mark it as paid offline. See how to add charges here.

  • Monthly charges cannot be marked as paid offline until they are sent to the tenant. Charges are sent 15 days prior to their due date.
