Managing and Troubleshooting Bank Accounts in TurboTenant Accounting

TurboTenant Accounting Bank Connections

TurboTenant Accounting offers the ability to securely connect to many banks and financial institutions through our integrated data providers, Plaid and Yodlee.

Linked bank accounts automatically import transactions once they post to your bank account with a read-only status. This reduces manual data entry and helps ensure all rental-related transactions are recorded. Recently settled transactions are imported daily, usually overnight.

💡 You can only connect and reconnect your bank accounts using Yodlee by navigating to the TurboTenant Accounting powered by REI Hub website.

Managing Bank Accounts in TurboTenant Accounting

TurboTenant Accounting now includes a Manage Account feature that allows you to view and manage your linked and manually added bank accounts directly within the TurboTenant Accounting interface.

From the Manage Account button, you can:

  • View the connection state of each bank account

  • Refresh bank connections

  • Edit Accounts

  • Unlink bank connections

  • Archive and unarchive accounts

  • Merge duplicate accounts

  • Delete accounts

This makes it easier to troubleshoot connection issues and manage your accounts without leaving TurboTenant Accounting.

How Bank Account Connections Work

Bank accounts linked through Plaid or Yodlee automatically receive imported transactions once they post at your bank.

However, connections can sometimes be interrupted. This may occur due to:

  • Bank security requirements that force re-authentication

  • Updates to your bank’s systems

  • Temporary issues between the bank and the data provider

When an issue is detected, TurboTenant Accounting will display the connection state and available actions in Manage Account.

Refreshing a Bank Connection

Plaid-Connected Accounts

If your account is connected through Plaid, you can refresh the connection directly within TurboTenant Accounting.

  1. Navigate to the Transaction or Insights page

  2. Select Manage Account

  3. Click Refresh Connection

  4. Re-enter your bank credentials if prompted

If successful, the connection will refresh and recent transactions will be imported. This process may take up to 24 hours to fully complete.

Yodlee-Connected Accounts

If your account is connected through Yodlee, refreshing the connection will redirect you to the TurboTenant Accounting Powered by REI Hub website to complete the reconnection process.

Once reconnection is completed, return to TurboTenant and transaction imports should resume.

When a Refresh Is Not Needed

If the Last Verified Date is within the last two days, the connection is considered active and does not need to be refreshed.

If the Last Verified Date is three or more days old and no refresh option is available, this usually means the connection is still valid but transaction data has been delayed by the bank or data provider. In many cases, data flow will resume automatically without user action.

Plaid Link Disconnected

If you see a “Plaid link disconnected” message, the connection is unrecoverable and cannot be refreshed.

To resolve this, you will need to Re-add the bank account as a new linked account

  1. Click Add Account

  2. Select NO to adding accounts via an existing connection:

💡When the link is unrecoverable, we want to establish a new healthy connection

  3. Choose Automatically Import and search for your banking institution

  4. Securely enter your banking credentials and follow the prompts

  5. Select all accounts you want to import

  6. You will now need to merge the duplicate accounts

Merging Duplicate Bank Accounts

Merging accounts is useful when:

  • A bank account was re-linked

  • A connection became disconnected and was re-added

  • Duplicate versions of the same bank account exist

How to Merge Accounts

  1. Go to Banking

  2. Select Manage Account on the older or inactive account

  3. Click Merge

  4. Select the newer or active version of the account

  5. Choose whether to transfer unbooked imported transactions

  6. Confirm the merge

After merging, all transactions will be consolidated into a single account.

Unlinking a Bank Account

Unlinking a bank account removes the live bank feed but keeps all existing transactions.

To unlink an account:

  1. Navigate to the Transaction or Insights page

  2. Select Manage Account

  3. Click the ellipses on the right of the bank tile to open the menu options

  4. Select Unlink

After unlinking:

  • No new transactions will be imported

  • Existing transactions remain in TurboTenant Accounting

  • The account becomes a manual account

Editing a Bank Account

Editing a bank account allows you to update the following details:

  • Bank name

  • Account nickname

  • Visible last four digits of the account number

  • Accounting type

  • Portfolio

  • Property scope for transactions

To edit an account:

  1. Navigate to the Transaction or Insights page

  2. Select Manage Account

  3. Click the ellipses on the right of the bank tile to open the menu options

  4. Select Edit

Archiving and Unarchiving Bank Accounts

Archiving an Account

Archiving hides the account from active views without deleting any data.

Archived accounts:

  • Retain all transactions and history

  • Can be restored later if needed

Unarchiving an Account

Unarchiving restores the account to active status and makes it visible again in the Banking page.

Deleting a Bank Account

Deleting a bank account permanently removes the account and its transactions.

⚠️ This action cannot be undone.

Only delete an account if it was added in error and no data needs to be retained.
