Linking a Bank Account to TurboTenant Accounting

Save time by linking your bank accounts for automatic financial booking

Linking a bank account is a powerful and convenient way to save time and eliminate manual data entry. TurboTenant Accounting can receive a read-only transaction feed presented in the Transactions tab for categorization and approval before the transactions are 'booked' and become part of your official records.

We integrate with Plaid to support as many financial institutions as possible; however, we can't connect with every bank. If your accounts are unable to connect via Plaid, no worries, you can still use manual expense tracking right from your platform!

When linking your account, Plaid will ask for your username and password to authorize the connection with your bank. TurboTenant Accounting never has access to these credentials and takes your privacy and security very seriously.

To link a bank account for the first time

1) Navigate to the Transaction Tab

  • Click Manage Accounts

2) Select Add Account

3) Select No to using an existing connection and select Automatically Import and search for your bank

4) Securely enter your banking credentials and follow the prompts

Depending on your bank's access settings, you may need to enter additional information, such as a two-factor authentication code, or answer a security question. TurboTenant Accounting never has access to your bank credentials or login information.

Select the accounts you want linked to TurboTenant Accounting and complete the process. Depending on the bank, the initial transaction import may take 5-15 minutes to complete.

🎉 Now your transactions are ready to book directly from the Transaction tab

🚀 TurboTip for connecting your bank account for the first time:

  • Make sure the URL for the website on Plaid matches the one you use to log in to your bank. This is especially important for commonly named banks like "First National" or "Community First."

  • Ensure your username and password are entered exactly as they were when you first signed up for the bank account. Plaid is case and space-sensitive in both the username and password.

  • Some banks have a setting within their platform to enable data sharing with third-party providers (like Plaid). If you are certain that the URL on the data provider, as well as the username and password, are all correct, ensure that this setting is enabled.

To Link Additional Bank Accounts

1) Navigate to the Transaction Tab

  • Click Manage Accounts

2) Select Add Account

2) Select your banking institution to connect

  • Select YES to add a new account from an existing banking institution

  • Select NO to connect a new banking institution

3) Securely enter your banking credentials and follow the prompts

Depending on your bank's access settings, you may need to enter additional information, such as a two-factor authentication code, or answer a security question. TurboTenant Accounting will never have access to your bank credentials or login information.

Select the accounts you want linked to TurboTenant Accounting and complete the process. Depending on the bank, the initial transaction import may take 5-15 minutes to complete.
