What happens once you require renters insurance?

Once you turn on the requirement, here’s how TurboTenant makes it easy for you to actually get proof of their policy:

  1. When you convert an applicant to a tenant within the Renters Tab, we’ll send an email to the renter letting them know you require renters insurance as part of the lease.
  2. Your new tenant then has to provide proof of their policy in their TurboTenant account. They can choose from any insurance provider they want, and then simply upload their policy. They also have the option to purchase a policy for as low as $8/month through our partnership with SURE.
  3. Once they provide proof of insurance, we’ll immediately send you an email letting you know you’re covered. When they purchase through SURE, you’ll also be notified if their policy changes, is canceled or expires. That way you’re never without coverage.
  4. Now you both can sleep easy at night knowing you’re covered

Want to turn the requirement off?

If you would like to stop requiring renters insurance, click the Account button in the upper right corner and select Settings from the drop-down menu. Then click the Turn Off Requirement button, and you're good to go.
